Shirvan Prison; Continued Detention of Danial Niazi and the Charge of Moharebeh Against This 18-Year-Old Youth

“Danial Niazi,” an 18-year-old young man from Shirvan, remains in an uncertain situation 38 days after his arrest and is facing a series of serious charges, including “moharebeh” (enmity against God); charges that, according to reports, were brought against him after torture and the extraction of forced confessions.

According to Kolbarnews, on Monday, January 12, 2026, security forces raided the family home of Danial Niazi in Shirvan, violently arrested him without presenting a judicial warrant, and transferred him to an unknown location. His arrest took place under conditions in which his family has remained unaware of his place of detention and his health status.
Based on received information, “Danial Niazi” was subjected to severe physical and psychological pressure during the first 24 hours of detention and, as a result of the torture inflicted on him, was forced to make confessions that formed the basis of the case and the serious charges brought against him. The “Second Investigative Branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Shirvan County” has charged this 18-year-old with “moharebeh,” along with other accusations including “participation in attempted intentional murder,” “participation in intentional assault and battery,” “membership in a gathering of more than three people against the internal security of the country,” “disruption of public order,” and “propaganda activity against the system.”

The continuation of his detention and the bringing of such charges against a person in his teenage years, while reports indicate confessions obtained under torture, have seriously increased concerns about his life and fate. His family continues to face ambiguity and a lack of response from the responsible authorities in their efforts to follow up on their son’s situation.
