Kermanshah; Sajjad Veisi Released After Four Months in IRGC Intelligence Detention

Sajjad Veisi, a citizen from Kermanshah Province, has been released after four months of detention in a detention facility operated by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, February 22, 2026, Sajjad Veisi, a resident of Kermanshah, was arrested by security forces while traveling from Kermanshah to Sarpol-e Zahab to visit his wife’s family home.
He was subsequently transferred to a detention facility operated by the IRGC Intelligence Organization. He has now been released after approximately four months in detention.

According to information published by informed sources, the detention of Sajjad Veisi was not merely part of an ordinary judicial case.
Security authorities allegedly used him as a means of exerting pressure on members of his family.
These sources stated that throughout his detention, security officials conditioned his release on the surrender of his two brothers, Meysam Veisi and Mojtaba Veisi.

Sajjad Veisi is the younger brother of Meysam Veisi and Mojtaba Veisi, two well-known Kurdish cultural activists and followers of the Yarsan faith. In the early hours of Thursday, May 28, 2026, the two brothers were killed after coming under direct gunfire during a raid carried out by IRGC forces on their hideout in the village of Qal’eh-Kahvash, located in Kermanshah Province.

At the time of publication, the security and judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran had not provided any explanation regarding the reasons for Sajjad Veisi’s arrest, the legal proceedings in his case, or the allegations that his release had been conditioned on the surrender of his brothers.
