Yousef Elhami, a 22-year-old Kurdish Kormanj man from Shirvan in North Khorasan Province and a resident of Mashhad, has been identified as another victim of the nationwide protests.

According to Kolbarews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Yousef Elhami was shot directly with live ammunition by Iranian security forces during nationwide protests at Meraj Square in Mashhad.
He died as a result of the severe injuries he sustained. His body was buried on January 16, 2026, in the cemetery of his hometown, Hosseinabad village in Shirvan.
Reports indicate that security authorities pressured Elhami’s family during the process of releasing his body and allegedly forced them to pay money in order to receive it.
Yousef Elhami worked as a laborer in a factory in Mashhad. Following his death, his family reportedly faced security restrictions and pressure during the body release process and funeral arrangements.
