Tehran; Death of Meysam Ghanbari, a 38-year-old Kurdish man, during the nationwide protests

Meysam Ghanbari, a 38-year-old Kurdish man from Kermanshah and a resident of Tehran, is one of the victims of the nationwide protests in the Parand area of Tehran.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, 8 January 2026, Meysam Ghanbari was shot directly in the heart with live ammunition by the Islamic Republic’s security forces and lost his life.
Following his death, his family remained unaware of the whereabouts of his body for several days until it was eventually handed over to them and buried on 13 January 2026 in a cemetery in Kermanshah.

In similar cases, government institutions have demanded sums ranging from 700 million to 1 billion tomans from families in Tehran and Kermanshah for the release of the bodies of those killed in protests; however, Meysam Ghanbari’s family was forced to pay 230 million tomans to receive his body.
