The Deputy for Secondary Education in Kurdistan’s Department of Education has reported that 13,120 students in the province are out of school.

According to Kolbarnews, citing Herana, there are currently over 13,000 students deprived of education in Kurdistan province. Of this number, about 2,200 are in lower secondary school and 10,920 in upper secondary school.
Hojatollah Mousavi stated that the rate of school dropout and deprivation from education in Kurdistan is higher than the national average.
He further cited economic factors, such as the lack of industries, factories, and stable job opportunities for graduates, the tendency of students to seek early employment, and the existence of border markets that create pseudo-employment opportunities for teenagers as the main reasons for boys dropping out of school in the province.
