Piranshahr; Continued Arbitrary Detention of Saadi Irani and 15-Day Extension of His Detention Order

Twenty-two days after the arbitrary and violent arrest of Saadi Irani, a citizen from Piranshahr, he remains under interrogation in the IRGC Intelligence detention center in Urmia, and his detention order has been extended for another 15 days.

According to Kolbarnews, in the early hours of Sunday, January 18, 2026, security forces raided Saadi Irani’s home without presenting any judicial warrant, arrested him, and transferred him to an unknown location. Follow-ups indicate that after his arrest, this citizen was transferred to the IRGC Intelligence detention center in Urmia and has been held there ever since.

According to available information, despite the passage of more than three weeks since his arrest, Saadi Irani’s detention order has been extended for another 15 days, and the status of his case remains unresolved.

During his detention, this citizen has been deprived of the right to access a lawyer as well as contact and visits with his family, and the continuation of this situation has increased serious concern among his family regarding his life and fate.
