Kurdistan: At least 15 Kurdish citizens killed over two days by direct gunfire from government forces

During nationwide protests on Thursday and Friday, January 9–10, 2026, at least 15 Kurdish citizens identified as Ako Mohammadi, Salam Mirani, Amirali Heidari, Navid Salehi, Bayat Sobhani, Sajad Feizi, Mohammad Jafari, Erfan Jameh-Shourani, Ebrahim Ahmadpourian, Borhan Seydi, Alireza Seidi, Mohammad Zamani, Mobin Filli, Diyar Pourcheghriq, and Halako Ivani were killed by direct gunfire from forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the cities of Qeshm, Kermanshah, Zarnah, Tehran, and Eslamabad_e Gharb.

According to Kolbarnews, over these two days at least 15 Kurdish citizens lost their lives due to direct shooting by government forces.
Based on obtained information on Thursday, January 9, Ako Mohammadi, a resident of Qeshm originally from Salas-e Babajani (Kermanshah Province), was killed during protests by direct fire. Security agencies reportedly demanded 1 billion tomans for handing over his body.
The same day, Salam Mirani, a father of three from Cheshmeh-Dar village (Servabad County), was killed during protests in Tehran by direct gunfire.
Also on January 9, Amirali Heidari, a 17-year-old from Kermanshah, was killed by direct fire during protests. Security agencies reportedly pressured his family to register the cause of death as a fall from height and demanded 1 billion tomans to release his body.

In Kermanshah, during protests that day in the neighborhoods of Dareh-Derij, Elahiyeh, Nowbahar, and Rashidi, at least five more citizens were killed by direct fire from the IRGC:
Navid Salehi (28), from Paveh, a nurse at Farabi Hospital, killed in Dareh-Derij.
Bayat Sobhani (40), from Shamshir village (Paveh), father of two, killed in Dareh-Derij.
Sajad Feizi, killed in Nowbahar.
Mohammad Jafari, killed in Elahiyeh.
Erfan Jameh-Shourani, killed in Rashidi.

In Ilam Province, on January 9, Mobin Filli (21) from Zarnah (Evand County) was killed by direct fire from government forces.

In Tehran, on January 9, at least five Kurdish citizens were killed by direct fire during protests:
Ebrahim Ahmadpourian, from Saqqez, father of two and Tehran resident.
Borhan Seydi, from Ingehjeh (Salmas), Tehran resident.
Alireza Seidi (16), from Abdanan, Tehran resident.
Mohammad Zamani, from Ivan-e Gharb, father of two, Tehran resident.
Diyar Pourcheghriq, from Salmas, Tehran resident.

Continuing the protests, on Friday, January 10, Halako Ivani, an athlete from Eslamabad-e Gharb (Kermanshah Province), was killed by direct gunfire during protests in that city.

Kolbarnews reports that alongside these events, there has been a heavy presence of IRGC and special police units in main streets and squares across Kurdistan. Medical centers are in crisis, and families of those killed are under security pressure to remain silent in exchange for the return of their loved ones’ bodies.
