Amid the continued bloody crackdown on nationwide protests in Kurdistan, a Yarsan citizen and university student studying in Italy was killed during popular protests in Kermanshah after being shot directly by military–security forces.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Yasin Mirzaei Qaleh-Zanjiri, a follower of the Yarsan faith and a student studying in Italy, was killed during protests in the Dareh-Derijeh neighborhood of Kermanshah after being directly targeted by military–security forces. Reports indicate that he was struck by a live bullet to the head and died at the protest site.
Yasin Mirzaei Qaleh-Zanjiri, son of Mohammad-Ali, had migrated to Italy about three years ago to continue his studies and had recently returned to Iran to visit his family.
As of the time of this report, Iranian authorities have provided no official explanation regarding the circumstances of his death.
