Hossein Shirkoul, a 43-year-old Kurdish citizen from the village of Zarrin Abad, a district of Dehloran County in Ilam Province, and a resident of Isfahan, has been identified as one of those killed during the nationwide protests.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, 7 January 2026, Hossein Shirkoul was shot with live ammunition by forces of the Islamic Republic during public protests in the city of Isfahan and lost his life. After five days of persistent efforts by the family and amid pressure from security institutions, his body was eventually handed over to the family and was buried on Wednesday, 13 January 2026 (24 Dey 1404) in the cemetery of his birthplace, the village of Zarrin Abad in Dehloran.
According to informed sources, during the process of handing over the body, security institutions pressured and threatened the family in an attempt to prevent public mourning ceremonies and independent reporting on the circumstances of his killing. Hossein Shirkoul was married and the father of two young children.
