A series of workplace accidents caused by unsafe working conditions in the cities of Mashhad, Shush, Fariman, and Tehran resulted in the deaths of three workers, including a firefighter, and injuries to ten others.

According to Kolbarnews, in Mashhad, a fire at an auto body shop on Mofatteh Sharqi Street left four workers injured. According to Hossein Saleh, Deputy of Operations at the Mashhad Fire Department, the incident ended after the fire was brought under control, and the injured workers were transferred to a hospital for treatment. In a separate incident in the same city, Reza Fakhrian, Deputy of Station 18 of the Mashhad Fire Department, lost his life while extinguishing a fire at a furniture workshop.
In Fariman, an explosion and fire at a pipe manufacturing factory in the Kavian Industrial Zone injured four workers. According to the county’s governor, one worker was treated on-site, while three others with severe burns were transferred to Imam Reza Hospital in Mashhad.
In Shush, a 48-year-old welder lost his life after an explosion occurred while he was working on a fuel tanker. Mehran Ahmadi Baloutaki, Head of Ahvaz Pre-Hospital Emergency, reported the cause of the incident as the presence of flammable vapors and lack of adherence to safety protocols.
In Tehran, the collapse of a residential building on Piroozi Street killed a 42-year-old worker and injured two others. Jalal Maleki, spokesperson for the Tehran Fire Department, stated that the injured workers were rescued from under the rubble by emergency teams and transferred to medical centers. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
These incidents once again highlight the lack of workplace safety and ineffective oversight of safety standards as major causes of worker deaths and injuries in Iran.
