Saqqez; Arrest of Three Citizens on Charges of Using Satellite Internet

Three citizens from Saqqez, named Kourosh Zahrabi, Bakhtiar Tavousi, and Mohammad Sharifi, have been arrested by forces of the Intelligence Department and transferred to an unknown location.

According to Kolbarnews, in recent days, Kourosh Zahrabi, Bakhtiar Tavousi, and Mohammad Sharifi were arrested by security forces in Saqqez.
These forces raided the homes of these citizens without presenting a judicial warrant and carried out their arrests. Mohammad Sharifi is also reported to be a relative of Bakhtiar Tavousi.

Based on obtained information, the arrests were accompanied by violence, and agents, while searching the homes, also confiscated a number of their personal belongings. Security institutions have stated that the reason for these arrests is “possession and use of Starlink satellite internet.”

As of the time of this report, no precise information is available about the place of detention or the condition of these three citizens, and their families’ follow-ups with security institutions have been unsuccessful.

These arrests have taken place amid escalating military tensions in the region, during which the trend of detaining citizens on security-related charges has increased.
