Kermanshah; Two Young Citizens Face Moharebeh ‘Enmity Against God’ Charges

Sajjad Veisi and Shayan Veisi, two followers of the Yarsan faith who were arrested during the January 2026 protests, have been charged with “moharebeh” (enmity against God), a charge that has heightened concerns about the possibility of severe sentences, including the death penalty.

According to Kolbarnews, the case of 30-year-old Sajjad Veisi and Shayan Veisi has been referred to the Revolutionary Court of Kermanshah after months of detention, and judicial authorities have brought the charge of “moharebeh” against them.
Informed sources have stated that the case was built on security agencies’ fabricated allegations and confessions obtained under pressure and torture.

The families of the two political prisoners have expressed concern about the risk of heavy sentences and threats to their lives.

Shayan Veisi was arrested during the January 2026 protests. Sajjad Veisi was arrested on Sunday, February 22, 2026, while traveling from Dareh Derij to Sarpol-e Zahab to visit his wife’s family. He was detained by security forces and transferred to a detention center. Shayan Veisi had previously been arrested in Kermanshah during the “Jina” uprising.

Sajjad Veisi is the brother of Meisam Veisi and Mojtaba Veisi, two well-known Kurdish cultural activists and followers of the Yarsan faith. The two brothers were killed on the morning of Thursday, May 28, 2026, when Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces raided their hideout in the village of Qal’eh Kahoush in Dalahoo County and opened direct fire on them.

The continued detention of Sajjad Veisi and Shayan Veisi, the “moharebeh” charges brought against them, and concerns about the possibility of death sentences have intensified worries among their families and human rights activists regarding their situation.
