Ilam; 30 Days of Arbitrary Detention of Jafar Mahmoudi and Increased Concerns About His Life and Fate

Jafar Mahmoudi, a citizen from the city of Chavar in Ilam Province, remains in complete uncertainty 30 days after his arbitrary arrest, and the broadcast of forced confessions attributed to him has seriously increased concerns about his life, health, and judicial future.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, Jafar Mahmoudi was arrested by security forces with the use of violence and without presenting a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location. Since his arrest, no information has been available about his place of detention or legal status.

According to received information, forced confessions attributed to this Kurdish citizen have been broadcast on the Islamic Republic’s state television, and local sources have reported severe physical and psychological torture against him in security detention centers, which has seriously increased the risk of heavy sentences being issued against him.

During his 30 days of arbitrary detention, Jafar Mahmoudi has been completely deprived of the right to telephone contact, family visits, and access to a lawyer, and this situation has caused serious concern among his family and relatives about his life and fate.
