Sarableh; Continued Lack of Information About Arshia Gheysarbeigi in Security Detention / Charges of “Moharebeh and Corruption on Earth” Based on Forced Confessions

Arshia Gheysarbeigi, a young man from Sarableh in Ilam Province, remains in complete uncertainty and is being held in one of the security detention centers 13 days after his arrest. Received reports indicate that following his violent arrest and severe physical and psychological torture, he has been confronted with the serious charges of “Moharebeh” and “Corruption on Earth”; charges which, according to informed sources, have been brought against him on the basis of forced confessions extracted under torture.

According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, security forces raided the home of Arshia Gheysarbeigi in Sarableh and violently arrested him without presenting a judicial warrant before transferring him to an undisclosed location.
An informed source stated that the severity of the beating during the arrest was such that it caused fractures to this citizen’s jaw, nose, and teeth. According to the same source, security forces simultaneously intended to arrest Arshak Gheysarbeigi, Arshia’s brother, but failed to detain him.

After his arrest, Arshia Gheysarbeigi was transferred to one of the security detention centers and has so far been deprived of access to a lawyer, contact, and visits with his family. Informed sources have stated that his interrogation continues in solitary confinement accompanied by severe physical torture, and despite the injuries caused by the beatings, no medical treatment has been provided to him.

According to received information, one day after the arrest, on May 6, 2026, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Chardavol County, signed by Karim Omidi, judge and deputy investigator, issued a two-month temporary detention order for Arshia Gheysarbeigi. In this order, based on his “confessions and admissions,” the charges of “Moharebeh and Corruption on Earth,” “displaying power with a weapon,” “possession and carrying of war weapons and ammunition,” and “illegal shooting” have been raised.

The text of the detention order claims that the charges were brought “based on the reports of judicial officers, the discovery and arrest report, and confessions and admissions made truthfully and in complete health and well-being.” This is despite the fact that informed sources have emphasized that Arshia Gheysarbeigi was “brutally” tortured after his arrest and that the confessions extracted from him were obtained under pressure and coercion.

Furthermore, while the detention order emphasizes the “health and well-being” of the accused during the extraction of confessions, reports indicate fractures to his nose, jaw, and teeth as well as the continuation of severe physical and psychological torture, a matter that creates a serious contradiction with the claims made by the judicial and security institutions.

In another section of the detention order, with reference to Article 225 of the Criminal Procedure Code, it is stated that the contents of the order were communicated to the accused and that he has the right to object to his detention within 10 days. However, the serious question remains as to how a person held in solitary confinement, without access to a lawyer, deprived of contact with family, and under torture, can practically exercise his legal right to object to the detention order.

The continued detention of Arshia Gheysarbeigi under conditions of complete uncertainty, solitary confinement, deprivation of basic rights, and the bringing of serious charges based on forced confessions has increased concerns regarding the danger of heavy sentences, including the death penalty, being issued against this citizen.
