Bojnord; Continued Detention and Uncertainty of 21-Year-Old Behzad Azarekhsh

Forty-three days after the arrest of Behzad Azarekhsh, a 21-year-old Kurd from Bojnord, he remains detained in the city’s prison in an uncertain condition without any judicial determination.

According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, Behzad Azarkhash was arrested by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was initially transferred to an undisclosed location. Based on received information, after the interrogation phase ended, he was transferred to Bojnord Prison, where he has remained ever since.

Despite more than six weeks having passed since the arrest of this Kurdish citizen, no official explanation has been provided regarding the reasons for his detention or any possible charges against him. According to available reports, he has also been deprived of the right to access a lawyer, make phone calls, and have family visits.

The continued lack of information about the progress of his case and his legal status has caused concern for his family, and efforts made to obtain information about his situation have so far been unsuccessful.
