The Workers’ and Toiling Women’s Commissions of Turkey (İEKK) have issued a statement condemning the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi, a labor and women’s rights activist in Iran.

According to Kolbarnews, İEKK declared in its statement: “The struggle Sharifeh Mohammadi is carrying forward in Iran for workers and oppressed women is our struggle too. Her death sentence is not only aimed at her, but at all those resisting and fighting across the world.”
The commission, while referring to the history of heavy sentences issued against political and social activists in Iran, emphasized the necessity of expanding international workers’ solidarity. The statement added: “Let us broaden the fight against this unfair trial and the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi. She must be freed!”
This statement comes after the Supreme Court of Iran upheld the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi, an act that has triggered widespread condemnation from human rights organizations both inside and outside the country.
