Tehran; Death of Reza Hassanzadeh, a 29-Year-Old Kurdish Young Man, by Live Bullet Shot to the Head During Nationwide Protests

Reza Hassanzadeh, a 29-year-old young man from the Kurdish Kurmanj community, is another victim of the nationwide protests in the city of Tehran who lost his life during the bloody suppression of protesters.

According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, January 9, 2026, Reza Hassanzadeh was targeted in the “Nezamabad” neighborhood of Tehran by direct fire of live ammunition by the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic, was shot in the head, and lost his life due to the severity of his injuries.

Based on received information, less than 24 hours remained until the wedding ceremony of this Kurdish young man.
According to an informed source, in order to identify the body of Reza Hassanzadeh, his birth certificate and national identification card were obtained from the marriage registry where his wedding ceremony was scheduled.
The body of this Kurdish young man was buried on Monday, January 12, 2026, in the “Qaleh Hassan Khan” area of Tehran.

Based on common security procedures in such cases, the delivery of the bodies of victims of protests has been accompanied by severe security pressure on families, and government institutions, through restrictions, threats, and surveillance, have attempted to prevent public ceremonies and the free flow of information.
