Benyamin Rahimpour, a former political prisoner from Sanandaj, has been arrested and transferred to the city’s central prison to serve a one-year prison sentence.

According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, July 13, 2025, Benyamin Rahimpour, a 35-year-old citizen from the village of Avihang, a suburb of Sanandaj, was summoned to Branch 4 of the Enforcement Unit of Sanandaj Judiciary, where he was arrested and transferred to the city’s central prison to begin his sentence.
Mr. Rahimpour had previously been sentenced by the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court on February 15, 2025, to one year of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “propaganda in favor of one of the Kurdish opposition parties.”
His court session was held on February 11, 2025, at Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court.
On Saturday, February 9, Benyamin Rahimpour was temporarily released from prison on bail of 500 million tomans and a shop deed after 19 days in detention, pending the completion of legal proceedings. According to the report, during his detention, Mr. Rahimpour was denied access to legal counsel and visits with his family.
On Tuesday, January 22, 2025, Benyamin Rahimpour was arrested by security forces. The security agents raided his workplace, used violence during the arrest, and transferred him to Shahramfar IRGC Intelligence Detention Center.
Benyamin Rahimpour is married and a father of two children.
