Naqadeh; Continued Detention of a Citizen and Transfer to the Central Prison

Alan Hekmatirad, a citizen from Mahabad and an English language teacher, who was arrested by security forces in April of the current year, has been transferred to the Central Prison of Naqadeh under a temporary detention order after a period of detention.

According to Kolbarnews on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Alan Hekmatirad was arrested in one of the streets of the city of Mahabad by government forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant.
Based on the information obtained, after arresting this citizen, security forces transferred him to his family home and, while searching the residence, confiscated a number of personal belongings including laptops, hard drives, and books belonging to him and his family.

After being held for some time in one of the detention centers in Urmia, this citizen was recently transferred to Naqadeh Central Prison. More than twenty days after the time of his arrest, he remains deprived of the right to family visits and access to a lawyer of his choice.

As of the time of publishing this report, judicial and security institutions have provided no transparent explanation regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges brought against this English language teacher.
