Aboubakr Baraei, a mine worker from Mahabad, lost his life after several days of hospitalization due to the severity of injuries sustained in a workplace accident.

According to Kolbarnews, Aboubakr Baraei, 52 years old, married and the father of two children, was a resident of the village of Gok-Tappeh in Mahabad County. He was injured while working at one of the mines in the county. Based on the report, Mr. Baraei suffered severe head injuries as a result of a rock collapse and was immediately transferred to Mahabad Hospital for treatment.
After several days in the intensive care unit (ICU), he died due to the severity of his injuries.
As of the time of this report, no detailed information has been released regarding the exact time of the incident or the precise location of the mine.
It should be noted that in the year 2024, at least 2,042 workers lost their lives in workplace accidents, and more than 16,000 cases of work-related physical injuries were recorded. Experts cite insufficient workplace safety, weak oversight and shortages of labor inspectors, and the lack of adequate insurance coverage as the main factors behind the continuation of these deadly incidents.
