Yaghoub Mohammadi, a well-known cultural figure and former political prisoner from Abdanan, was violently arrested following a large-scale raid by security forces on his private home.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, Yaghoub Mohammadi, a dismissed teacher and respected figure in Abdanan, was arrested during an operation involving more than 20 security force vehicles, without the presentation of a judicial warrant. Eyewitnesses reported that the raiding forces entered the location wearing black clothing and face coverings, and some of them were carrying military weapons.
Based on images published from the moment of arrest, officers used violence and created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation to remove this citizen from his home and take him away. His relatives attempted to prevent the arrest, but security forces used physical force to prevent any resistance.
Following this arrest, a significant number of Abdanan citizens gathered in front of the police station building, chanting protest slogans and demanding his immediate release. Reports indicate that security forces used gunfire to disperse the protesters, resulting in at least one young person being injured.
At the same time, images and reports have been published showing the deployment of additional forces to Abdanan, indicating an intensification of the security atmosphere in the city. Local sources have also reported a noticeable decrease in internet speed and disruptions in citizens’ access to communication networks.
Yaghoub Mohammadi is a veteran educator and a respected figure among the people of Abdanan, who has previously been arrested and served political imprisonment. His arrest has sparked a wave of public dissatisfaction in the city, and protesters have stated that they will continue their demonstrations if his detention continues.
