The death sentence of Warisha Moradi, a prisoner held in Evin Prison, has been overturned by Iran’s Supreme Court, and her case has been referred to another branch for retrial.

According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the Supreme Court overturned Moradi’s death sentence following a review of her appeal.
According to her lawyer, Mostafa Nili, the ruling issued by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court was rejected due to “failure to observe legal procedures” and the “absence of valid presentation of charges necessary for issuing a death verdict.” The case has now been referred to a parallel branch for reconsideration.
According to the report, Warisha Moradi had been sentenced to death by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, in late November 2024, on the charge of “Baghi” (armed rebellion).
Moradi was arrested in August 2023, on the outskirts of Sanandaj by security forces. After interrogation, she was transferred from the intelligence ministry detention center (Ward 209 of Evin) to the women’s ward of Evin Prison on December 26, 2023.
