Ahmad Astarkhi, a 40-year-old Kurdish Kormanj citizen from North Khorasan Province, is another of those killed in the nationwide protests in Tehran who lost his life after being directly shot with live ammunition.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Ahmad Astarkhi lost his life after being shot in the head with live ammunition by government forces during the street suppression of nationwide protests in Tehran.
After several days, his body was buried on Monday, January 12, 2026, in his native village of “Astarkhi,” a district of Shirvan County in North Khorasan Province.
Ahmad Astarkhi was married and the father of two children. He belonged to the “Ghahramanlu” clan and was from the village of Astarkhi, and in recent years had been working in construction in Tehran.
He had previously lived in the city of Faruj in North Khorasan and, according to available information, had a prior history of arrest by security institutions.
According to received information, security institutions of the Islamic Republic pressured the family in order to hand over the body of this deceased citizen and obtained security commitments from them, a process that in many similar cases has prevented families from freely holding mourning ceremonies for those killed in nationwide protests.
