Saveh; Death of Saeed Kalvandi, a Young Kurdish Man, by Live Gunfire

Saeed Kalvandi, 31 years old, a Kurdish citizen from Hamedan and a resident of Saveh, is another of those killed in the nationwide protests in Saveh.
He died after being hit by a live bullet to the thigh, suffering severe bleeding and the amputation of his leg. Saeed was the father of two daughters aged 7 and 4.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2026, amid widespread repression of people by security forces, Saeed Kalvandi became separated from his companions.
After several hours of searching, he was found with a bullet wound to his thigh and severe bleeding.
His condition was so critical that saving him on site seemed impossible. He was first hospitalized at a local hospital, but doctors stated that the only way to save his life was to amputate the injured leg.

The family attempted to transfer Saeed to Tehran, and during the journey he briefly regained consciousness, spoke to his mother, and said “I’m thirsty,” but then lost consciousness again.

Saeed Kalvandi was transferred to Sina Hospital in Tehran on Friday, January 9, 2026, and was admitted after the payment of 200 million tomans; the cost of each night of hospitalization was announced as 50 million tomans. Doctors in Tehran also stated that the only way to save his life was leg amputation. The family agreed, and the surgery was carried out until 4:00 a.m., but Saeed did not regain consciousness after the operation and was transferred for dialysis. Doctors announced the cause of death as “cardiac arrest.”

The body of this deceased individual was not handed over to the family until Tuesday, January 13, 2026. After receiving the body, family members observed that it had been fully autopsied; it was cut open from the abdomen to below the throat, and even the eyes had been stitched, while the official cause of death was declared “cardiac arrest.” Those who prepared the body for burial also stated that it appeared as if the internal organs had been removed, raising serious questions and concerns for the family.

Security institutions also prevented the holding of a memorial ceremony at the mosque and confronted individuals who cried during mourning. Ultimately, Saeed Kalvandi was buried in Saveh.
