A citizen from Marivan named Farzin Sasani was injured following direct gunfire by armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the border areas of the county.

According to Kolbarnews, in recent days Farzin Sasani, a citizen from the village of “Bardeh Rasheh” in Marivan, was present at one of the border points to establish contact with his relatives by connecting to the telecommunications network of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq when he was targeted by direct gunfire from government forces and was injured in the leg.
According to obtained information, the security and military institutions of the Islamic Republic have instructed forces stationed at the borders to respond with armed action to any movement of citizens in these areas under suspicion of being “suspicious,” and to pursue and open direct fire upon individuals if observed.
Local sources have also reported that military forces stationed at border bases have in recent days left some of their fixed positions and, by establishing temporary bases in the heights and mountainous areas, have placed the movement of border residents under strict control and surveillance.
