Mahabad; Continued Uncertainty of a Citizen After More Than 32 Days of Detention

Shahram Qabal, a citizen from Mahabad and a resident of Miandoab, after more than 32 days since the time of his arrest, is still in an uncertain situation, and no precise information about his fate or the status of his case is available.

According to Kolbarnews on March 17, 2026, Shahram Qabal was arrested without the presentation of a judicial warrant by security forces at his personal residence and was then transferred to Miandoab prison.
Since the time of his arrest, he has been deprived of access to a lawyer, telephone contact, and visits with his family.

Based on the received information, after the family’s follow-ups, at Branch of the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office, Third Investigating Magistrate, headed by Hojjat al-Islam Yazdani, they were informed that a two month detention order has been issued for Shahram Qabal and the final determination of the case has been postponed to the end of this period.
Reports also indicate that despite the referral of the case to the court, the process of handling it has been accompanied by ambiguities, and it is said that decisions regarding this case have been made before the completion of judicial procedures and the holding of the final court session.

As of the time of compiling this report, no clear explanation has been published regarding the reasons for the arrest and the charges brought against this citizen.
