Khabat Dehdar, labor activist and former political prisoner

Khabat Dehdar is a civil activist, mountaineer and member of board of directors of “Chel Cheme” cultural mountaineering group in Sna, who is active in civic activities in defense of human rights. Also, he is member of management council of campaign to demand drinking water and protect water resources in Sna city.

Khabat Dehdar, a political activist from Sna, was sentenced to 5 years of suspended imprisonment by Sna Revolutionary Court on March 2 of 2011, on charges of “membership in Komala Party.”
He was arrested in 2015 and after 17 days of interrogation at Sna Intelligence Department detention center, was temporarily released after posting bail of 200 million Tomans. In early 2016, he was sentenced to 5 years and 100 days in prison by Branch 104 of Sna General Court on charges of “membership in Komale Party” and on Sunday, June 12 of 2016, he was transferred to Sna Central Prison to serve his sentence. This labor activist was finally released from Sna Central Prison on April 12 of 2020.
On Tuesday, February 8 of 2022, forces from Sna Intelligence Department arrested Khabat Dehdar, a political activist and former political prisoner, on one of streets of Sna city without presenting a judicial document and transferred him to an unknown location then released him from Sna prison on Monday, February 28 of 2022.
In continuation of security pressure on this labor activist, on Thursday, September 1 of 2022, Khabat Dehdar and Zahid Moradian, labor activists from Sna, were summoned by phone to Sna intelligence department and interrogated for several hours. This summons and interrogation took place in connection with their attendance at funeral of Khalil Ahmadi, a labor activist and former political prisoner.
Khabat Dehdar had previously been arrested during nationwide protests. He was arrested by security forces on Thursday, October 20 of 2022, and released from Sna Prison on Saturday, October 29 of 2022 after posting bail.
On Tuesday, September 19 of 2023, Khabat Dehdar and his brother Ramyar Dehdar, two civil and labor activists from Sna, were arrested by Sna security forces. During arrest, security forces raided their private homes and used violence to arrest two citizens and seize some of their personal belongings.
Khabat Dehdar has been target of security and judicial clashes many times before. In November 2023, First Branch of Sna Revolutionary Court sentenced him to 12 months of suspended imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against regime.”
This labor activist was arrested by security forces at his workplace on Tuesday, February 10 of 2026, without a court order. At same time, security forces raided his father’s house, searched and examined family’s personal belongings.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, March 14 of 2026, Khabat Dehdar, a labor activist and former political prisoner, after 32 days of detention, was temporarily released from Sna Central Prison after posting bail.
