Quchan; Continued Detention and Uncertainty of Mehdi Gholizadeh in Quchan Prison

Mehdi Gholizadeh, a Kurdish citizen from Quchan in Razavi Khorasan Province, remains detained in Quchan Prison without judicial determination 48 days after his arrest.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Mehdi Gholizadeh, a 25-year-old Kurmanj Kurd from Quchan, was violently arrested by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and transferred to an undisclosed location. After undergoing interrogation at one of the security detention centers, he was transferred to Quchan Prison, where he has remained in an uncertain condition.

Forty-eight days after his arrest, he continues to be deprived of access to a lawyer, phone contact, and family visits.

Mehdi Gholizadeh was born on November 12, 2000, and is known as the primary provider for his family, as his father had previously passed away. He was also a member of a Kurdish dance group in Quchan. The continuation of his detention and uncertainty has increased concerns among his family and relatives about his situation.
