Nazanin Zahra Esmikhani, an 18-year-old Kurdish young woman from Qazvin Province, is the identity of another person killed in the nationwide protests of January 9, who lost her life following direct gunfire by forces of the Islamic Republic.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Friday, January 9, 2026, Nazanin Zahra Esmikhani was targeted by live ammunition fired by suppressive forces during nationwide protests in the city of Mohammadiyeh, Qazvin, and died as a result of the severity of her injuries. This young citizen was a photographer and a guitarist, and her artistic activities were well known among friends and acquaintances.
The body of Nazanin Zahra Esmikhani was buried under strict security measures at the Hesar Khorvan cemetery in Qazvin.
According to received information, security institutions handed over the body of this deceased individual to her family in exchange for the payment of 300 million tomans. After the burial, her family has been continuously subjected to surveillance and pressure by security institutions.
Reports also indicate that in the city of Qazvin, plainclothes forces, introducing themselves as relatives of other deceased individuals, have visited families’ homes and, through several-hour presences, have monitored comings and goings and collected information about mourning ceremonies and the situation of the families.
