Labor Accident; Death and Injury of Two Afghan Workers in Tehran

Today, on Vali-Asr Street in Tehran, two Afghan migrant workers were involved in a workplace accident, resulting in the death of one and severe injury of the other.

According to Kolbarnews, the incident occurred at Kian Tower, located above Zafar Street.
The two workers, who were brothers identified as Ali Nazari and Gol-Agha Nazari, were cleaning the tower’s windows when a malfunction in the lift system caused the accident.

A source stated that the cause of the accident was a “power outage and disruption in the lift motor,” adding: “The sudden malfunction of the device struck the two workers, leading to the immediate death of Ali Nazari at the scene, while his brother Gol-Agha sustained serious injuries and was transferred to a medical center.”

This incident once again highlights the lack of workplace safety, particularly in large construction projects, and underscores the vulnerability of Afghan migrant workers in Iran.
