Kermanshah: Arrest of a photographer and civil activist

Omid Bagheri, a photographer, civil and environmental activist from Islamabad-e Gharb, has been arrested by security forces and transferred to an unknown location.

According to Kolbarnews, on the afternoon of Sunday, December 14, 2025, Omid Bagheri a photographer, civil and environmental activist from Islamabad-e Gharb (Shabad) in Kermanshah Province was arrested by security forces and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to an informed source who confirmed the news, the 37-year-old photographer was arrested by security forces while traveling on the Kermanshah–Paveh road, without the presentation of any judicial warrant. Several hours after this arbitrary arrest, no information has yet been made available regarding his place of detention, physical condition, legal status, or possible charges.

The source also stated that Omid Bagheri had previously been arrested in connection with his participation in Nowruz 2024 ceremonies and for photographing Nowruz cultural rituals. Following that arrest, a security case was opened against him on the charge of “propaganda against the regime.”

Omid Bagheri is regarded as a reputable and well-known activist in Kermanshah Province, with a history of continuous activity in photography, civil activism, and environmental issues.
