Masoud Sahami, a young resident of Islamabad‑e Gharb, is another protester who was killed during the suppression of demonstrations in the city, after being shot with live ammunition by government forces.

According to Kolbarnews, Masoud Sahami, a Kurdish youth from Islamabad-e Gharb in Kermanshah Province, was shot dead on the evening of Thursday, January 7, 2026, during public protests in the city. Based on information received, he was the head of his household and worked as an apprentice at an oil-change shop.
As of the time of this report, it is not known whether Sahami’s family was forced to pay money or sign a written pledge in order to receive his body.
However, informed sources previously told Kolbarnews that government institutions in Kermanshah Province have demanded amounts ranging from 700 million to one billion tomans from families in exchange for handing over the bodies of those killed in the protests, leaving families with little choice but to comply.
Reports also indicate that, in most cases involving victims of the protests in Islamabad-e Gharb, security agencies have refused to allow burials in the city cemetery. Families have instead been compelled to transfer the bodies of their loved ones to nearby villages for burial.
Additionally, sources say that security agencies have pressured the families of several victims to falsely attribute the shootings to Kurdish opposition parties. At the same time, military and security forces reportedly raided Islamabad-e Gharb Hospital on January 7 and 8, attempting to arrest injured protesters. Following these actions, many families were forced to secretly remove wounded relatives or the bodies of those killed from the hospital to avoid further repression.
