Following the wave of mass arrests after the public protests of January 2026, at least 30 more citizens including two minors under 18, one woman, and one university faculty member have been arrested by security forces in various cities across Ilam Province.
According to Kolbarnews, between Thursday, January 1, 2026, and Sunday, January 4, 2026, at least 30 citizens were arrested in the cities of Ilam, Dehloran, Darreh Shahr, Badreh, Malekshahi, Sarableh, and Chardavol. Most of these arrests were carried out without judicial warrants and involved raids on private homes. As of the time of writing, no information is available regarding the whereabouts or condition of many of the detainees. Reports also indicate the use of physical violence during some of the arrests.
Among those detained are two minors under the age of 18, one woman, and Nabi Omidi, an associate professor of economics at Ilam University and a civil activist.
