Sosan Hasan-Zadeh, a civil rights activist and Kurdish language instructor from Bukan, has been sentenced to three months of imprisonment.
According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, Branch 101 of the Second Criminal Court in Bukan issued a verdict sentencing Hasan-Zadeh to three months in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
It should be noted that Hasan-Zadeh was temporarily released from Urmia Central Prison on June 12, 2024, after posting a bail of one billion tomans, pending the conclusion of her legal proceedings. She was initially arrested on May 15, 2024, when agents from the Bukan Intelligence Office raided her home and violently detained her. During her arrest, she was denied access to legal representation.
As of this report, the specific reasons for her arrest and the charges against her remain unclear. Hasan-Zadeh has faced legal action in the past due to her activism.
