Saeed Tarvand, a 33-year-old Kurdish man from Mehran County in Ilam Province and an oil company contractor in Abadan, lost his life after being directly shot with live ammunition by suppressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran during nationwide protests in the city.

According to Kolbarnews, Saeed Tarvand, a 33-year-old Kurdish man from the village of “Chalab,” a district of Mehran County in Ilam Province and a resident of Abadan, was directly shot with live ammunition by government forces during nationwide protests in Abadan on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2026, and lost his life.
An informed source stated that he was working as a contractor for the oil company in Abadan and was targeted with live ammunition by suppressive forces during the protests.
According to this source, after his death, government forces subjected his family to pressure and threats for five days and only handed over his body after obtaining a written commitment. Saeed Tarvand’s body was buried on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in his birthplace, the village of “Chalab,” in Mehran County.
Saeed Tarvand was married and had one young child.
