Zahedan: Death of a Baloch Worker Due to Lack of Workplace Safety

A 24-year-old Baloch worker lost his life after falling from the seventh floor of a building in Zahedan due to unsafe working conditions.

According to Kolbarnews, Yaser Gorgij, a 24-year-old Baloch laborer residing in Zahedan, tragically died on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. He was working as a facade worker on a construction project in the Zibashahr area of Zahedan when the scaffolding collapsed due to a lack of proper safety equipment, causing him to fall from the seventh floor.

Around 11 a.m., he suffered severe injuries to his head, arms, and legs and was transported to Khatam Hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away at 2 p.m. due to the severity of his injuries.

His funeral was held on Friday, July 18, attended by Molavi Abdolhamid, the Sunni Friday prayer leader of Zahedan, at Makki Mosque, and he was buried in the Mirjaveh Road Cemetery.

It is noteworthy that in 2024, at least 2,042 workers in Iran lost their lives due to workplace accidents, and at least 16,113 workers were injured in similar incidents.

Iran ranks 102nd globally in workplace safety compliance, reflecting a very poor standing.
