Two Baloch Sukhtbars were killed and injured following a vehicle overturn in the Ghatarkhanjak area of Zahedan.

According to Kolbarnews, on the morning of Thursday, May 1, 2025, two Sukhtbar brothers from the Siyahdak region of Zahedan were involved in a crash while transporting fuel. Their vehicle overturned along the Ghatarkhanjak route, resulting in one fatality and one injury.
Mohammad Barahouei (Mengal), aged 18, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered a fatal head injury and a broken neck. His older brother, Reza Barahouei (Mengal), approximately 21 years old, sustained serious injuries. Both were taken to Hospital in Zahedan, where Mohammad was pronounced dead.
According to a family source, Reza’s condition was stable and he has since been discharged from the hospital.
Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
