Urmia: Worker Dies Due to Lack of Workplace Safety

Shafigh Alizadeh, a 45-year-old worker from Urmia, lost his life after falling from a height at a construction site due to inadequate safety measures.

According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, August 1, 2025, a construction worker died while working on a building project on 8 Shahrivar Street in Urmia, following a fall from a significant height.

The deceased worker has been identified as Shafigh Alizadeh, son of Jahangir, 45 years old, and originally from the village of Johani in the Somá Baradost region.

It is worth noting that in the year March 2024–March 2025, at least 2,042 workers in Iran lost their lives due to workplace accidents, and at least 16,113 others were injured.

Iran ranks 102nd globally in workplace safety standards a notably low position.
