Tehran: 17-year-old Kurdish child Rebin Moradi killed by direct fire from government forces

Amid the ongoing bloody crackdown on nationwide protests, a 17-year-old Kurdish child from Salas-e Babajani and a resident of Tehran was killed during popular protests in the capital after being shot directly by government forces.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Rebin Moradi, a 17-year-old student from Salas-e Babajani in Kermanshah Province and living in Tehran, was killed during protests in Tehran after being directly targeted by military-security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The report states that after four days without any information about his whereabouts, Rebin Moradi’s family was eventually informed that he had been killed during the protests by gunfire from government suppression forces.

Kolbarnews further reports that his body has not yet been handed over to the family, and their efforts to retrieve his remains are still ongoing.

Rebin Moradi was a player for the Saipa youth football team and a member of Tehran’s youth premier football league. He had previously played for youth teams including Parsian Javan Ilya Novin. In addition to football, he was a champion swimmer in his age category and was also active in wrestling.

As of the time of this report, no official explanation has been provided by Iranian authorities regarding the circumstances of this Kurdish child’s death.
