Sirjan: Eight Dead and Injured in Bus Overturn Carrying Workers

A bus carrying workers overturned on the Sirjan to Shiraz route, resulting in the death of one worker and injuries to seven others.

According to Kolbarnews, early this morning, Friday, November 29, 2024, a bus transporting workers from a local mining company overturned on the Sirjan to Shiraz road. Tragically, one person lost their life, and seven others were injured.

Initial reports indicate that the incident occurred around 6:27 AM, 20 kilometers from Sirjan on the Sirjan to Shiraz road. The bus was carrying workers traveling to one of the region’s mines for their duties. Due to the severity of the accident, one passenger died, and seven others sustained injuries. Emergency responders transported the injured to hospitals in Sirjan, where their conditions were reported as stable.

The exact cause of the accident remains unknown as police traffic experts investigate potential factors. Possible causes include speeding, vehicle mechanical failure, driver fatigue or drowsiness, and adverse weather conditions.

It is worth noting that in 2023, 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) lost their lives in workplace-related incidents across Iran, marking an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year’s 1,900 fatalities.

Iran ranks 102nd globally in workplace safety standards, a significantly low position.
