Sanandaj; Release of Chiako Rezaei after 110 days of detention and a 25-kilogram weight loss during imprisonment

Chiako Rezaei, an athlete from Sanandaj, was released on bail after more than three months of detention at the Intelligence Department detention center in this city, during which he experienced severe weight loss.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, December 25, 2025, Chiako Rezaei, an athlete from Sanandaj, was released from the Sanandaj Intelligence Department detention center after 110 days of detention upon posting bail in the amount of one billion tomans.

Based on received information, Chiako Rezaei lost approximately 25 kilograms during his period of detention and prolonged confinement in solitary cells, raising serious concerns about his physical and psychological health.

The release of this athlete took place while his detention order had previously been extended for the fourth time. These extensions were carried out without providing clear and documented legal explanations and had created serious ambiguities regarding the judicial handling of his case.

Available information indicates that Chiako Rezaei’s detention order, which was initially valid until December 1, 2025, upon the expiration of this period not only did not result in his release but was once again extended until January 10, 2026, without the announcement of clear legal reasons.

It is also noted that a bail order in the amount of one billion tomans had previously been issued for the release of this athlete, but despite the issuance of this judicial decision, he remained in detention until the time of his release.

Chiako Rezaei was arrested on September 5, 2025, without the presentation of a judicial warrant by security forces and was subsequently transferred to a solitary cell at the Sanandaj Intelligence Department detention center. During his detention, he was deprived of access to a lawyer, regular contact, and visits with his family.
