Keyvan Zendkarimi, an environmental activist and a citizen from Sanandaj, remains in prison despite more than one month having passed since his arrest, and his detention order has been extended for another month.

According to Kolbarnews, Keyvan Zendkarimi’s detention order was extended for another month after the completion of the first month of detention. According to received information, during his detention he has been subjected to severe physical pressure and torture, and serious concerns about his life and health condition have increased.
According to informed sources, among the 10 civil activists who were arrested on Sunday, January 5, 2026, by security forces, only Keyvan Zendkarimi remains in detention, while the other nine—Shaho Mohammadi, Jamal Khodarahmi, Khabat Asadi, Arman Salimi, Khaled Seif-Panahi, Ghane Khateri, Bayan Farajollahi, Dalir Eskandari, and Varya Moeid—have been temporarily released.
These sources emphasized that despite the renewed extension of the detention order, no clear explanation has been provided regarding the charges brought against Keyvan Zendkarimi, and reports indicate continued severe physical pressure against him.
On Sunday, January 5, 2026, at least 10 civil activists and former political prisoners were arrested in Sanandaj by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and were transferred to an unknown location.
