A Sukhtbar has died due to injuries sustained after military forces from the Sahl-Abad outpost pursued and opened fire on his vehicle.
According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, November 21, 2025, a Sukhtbari vehicle overturned following a pursuit and gunfire by military forces from the Sahl-Abad outpost on the rural Sekuri–Chahdaraz road in Nehbandan County, resulting in the Sukhtbars driver death due to severe injuries.
The deceased Baloch Sukhtbar has been identified as Omid Arbabi (Sayyadi), 34 years old, son of Mohammad, father of one child, originally from Zabol and residing in Mashhad.
According to the report, around 12:30 p.m., military forces from the Sahl-Abad outpost pursued and opened fire on Omid’s Peugeot 405, which was carrying fuel, on the Sekuri–Chahdaraz rural road. As a result of the gunfire, the Sukhtbari vehicle overturned, and the driver died at the scene due to the injuries he sustained.
Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have been forced to turn to due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct gunfire from military and security forces are among the dangers that threaten the lives of these Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the year 2024, at least 375 Baloch Sukhtbars have been injured or lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires. Of this number, 240 Sukhtbars were killed and 135 were injured, representing a 55% increase in the number of killed and injured Sukhtbars compared to the year 2023.
