Kolbarnews Statement Condemning the Human Rights Commission of the East Azerbaijan Bar Association’s Declaration Against the Kurdish Nation

The statement issued by the Human Rights Commission of the East Azerbaijan Bar Association, written in a securitized and racist language against the Kurdish nation and Kolbars, not only bears no trace of human rights but openly reflects the logic of fascism, class oppression, and national suppression in Iran. In this statement, Kolbari is reduced to espionage, arms smuggling, and collaboration with foreign enemies, in order to conceal the reality of poverty, occupation, unemployment, and the structural destruction of the economy in Kurdistan. Such accusations serve as tools to legitimize the repression that has always been exercised against the Kurdish people and Kolbars.

We at Kolbarnews emphasize that Kolbari is the direct result of the occupation of Kurdistan, the government’s securitized approach toward Kurdistan, and capitalist economic policies. When the state blocks the path of development and deprives the people of Kurdistan of the most basic means of livelihood, kolbari is not a choice but the only way to survive. This reality cannot be changed through fabricated security cases or accusations of collaboration with “Israel.” To accuse an entire nation of treason is simply the continuation of the same fascist and racist outlook that has always kept Kurdistan occupied, marginalized, and subjected to discrimination.

We affirm that the right to self-determination for the Kurdish nation and for all oppressed peoples is a fundamental right, and no statement or law can deny it. The Kurdish nation, alongside other oppressed peoples, is fighting for equality and freedom, and any attempt to deny this legitimate right is doomed to failure.

We strongly condemn this reactionary statement. Defending the Kolbars and the Kurdish nation is defending human dignity. Solidarity among the working class is the real response to the racist and repressive policies of the Islamic Republic. We believe that only through class unity and the resistance of oppressed nations can such attacks be confronted, paving the way for freedom and equality.
