A two-year-old Baloch child lost his life after falling into a hootag (water pit) in Dashtyari County.
According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, May 16, 2024, a Baloch child died after falling into a hootag.
The identity of the child has been reported as “Moulhem Kadkhodaei,” a two-year-old, son of Akram, also known as “Akram Mocha,” from the village of Kech, in the outskirts of Dashtyari County.
This Baloch child fell into the hootag (water pit) that had filled with water due to recent rains and floods, resulting in his drowning and subsequent death.
Hootak, or hootag, is a dug pit used for storing water, primarily for agricultural purposes, but in recent years, due to the water crisis in Balochistan, people have been using hootak water for drinking and household purposes.
According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, in 2023 alone, a total of 98 cases of child rights violations have been recorded in Balochistan. At least 27 children have been killed, 17 children injured, 3 children have drowned, 38 children have been detained, and tragically, one child bride has been killed by gunshot.
