Morteza Pakzad, a 22-year-old Kurdish young man from Bojnord and a resident of Tehran, has been identified as another victim of the nationwide protests who lost his life during the bloody crackdown by government forces.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Morteza Pakzad was killed after being directly shot in the head with live ammunition by the suppressive forces of the Islamic Republic during nationwide protests in Tehran.
After about one week of complete lack of information for his family, his body was handed over to them on Monday, January 19, 2026, and was buried in the cemetery of the village of “Kalab,” a district of Bojnord and his birthplace.
According to received information, security and government institutions had conditioned the handover of Morteza Pakzad’s body on requirements including the payment of financial sums and holding the burial ceremony secretly and in complete silence.
Ultimately, due to the family’s inability to provide the requested amounts, the body of this Kurdish young man was handed over only on the condition that no public ceremony be held and under security pressure.
Morteza Pakzad was originally from the Kurmanj Kurds of the village of “Kalab” and worked as a laborer in Tehran.
