Bukan; Asti Mohammadi, Mother of Two Political Activists, Released on Heavy Bail

Asti Mohammadi, a 67-year-old resident of Bukan and the mother of two political activists, was temporarily released after 15 days in detention by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran upon posting a heavy bail.

According to Kolbarnews, Asti Mohammadi was arrested on the evening of Monday, May 12, 2026, following a large-scale raid by security forces on her family home in the city of Bukan. According to received information, government forces used at least 15 armored and operational vehicles to surround her residence and, after creating an atmosphere of intimidation and security pressure, arrested her without presenting a judicial warrant and transferred her to an undisclosed location.

At the same time as her arrest, Intelligence Office agents carried out an extensive search of the house and confiscated a number of the family’s personal belongings, including photo albums, books, mobile phones, and laptops belonging to family members.

Throughout her detention, her family had no information regarding her whereabouts, physical condition, or the status of her case.
According to available information, Asti Mohammadi was transferred to a security detention center in Urmia after her arrest and, during this period, was only able to make a single brief telephone call of approximately 30 seconds to her family.

The arrest of this elderly woman took place despite the fact that she suffers from underlying health conditions, including heart disease and high blood pressure, and requires continuous medication and medical care.
The prolonged lack of information regarding her condition and concerns about her access to medical treatment had caused serious anxiety among her family and relatives in recent days.

According to received information, Asti Mohammadi was temporarily released after 15 days of detention upon posting a heavy bail. However, her judicial case remains open, and concerns persist regarding the possibility of further security and judicial pressure against her.
