Tehran; Death of Sam Sohbatizadeh During Nationwide Protests

Sam Sohbatizadeh, a 14-year-old Kurdish Kurmanj child from Khalkhal County in Ardabil Province and a resident of Tehran, has been identified as another victim of the nationwide protests.

According to Kolbar News, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, 14-year-old Sam Sohbatizadeh was shot directly in the head with live ammunition by the suppressive forces of the Islamic Republic during nationwide protests in Qaleh Hasan Khan Square in Tehran and lost his life due to the severity of his injuries.

The child’s body was transferred the same night by his family in a private vehicle to the county and was buried on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the cemetery of his native village, Lenbar, a village in Khalkhal.

Sam Sohbatizadeh had been working since the age of 10 to help support his family while studying, but from September 2025 he was forced to leave school and work full-time.

After his death, the family of this child victim faced security pressure and restrictions during the process of transferring, receiving, and burying his body.
