As a result of security forces’ gunfire in the village of Pir Omran, Saqqez, one citizen was killed and four others were injured.

According to Kolbarnews, Monday September 15, 2025, during clashes and gunfire by security forces against a gathering of residents protesting the “Qalqaleh” gold mine project in the villages of Pir Omran, Krovian, and Qalqaleh in Saqqez county, a 22-year-old citizen named Mohammad Rashidi, from Pir Omran, was killed. Four others; Mohammad Amin Rashidi, Ramyar Rashidi, Hemen Rashidi, and Adel Rashidi were seriously injured.
According to the report, the body of Mohammad Rashidi is being held at the Hospital’s morgue, while the injured have also been transferred to the same hospital for treatment.
Local sources state that in recent days, there have been repeated clashes between residents of the area including environmental activists and farmers protesting the continuation of the Qalqaleh gold mine project and government security forces. In these confrontations, officers attempted to disperse protesters using batons and live gunfire, but residents continued their demonstrations.
