Mashhad; Death of Saeed Rostamabadi, a Kurdish Citizen from Kangavar, During Nationwide Protests

Saeed Rostamabadi, a citizen from Kangavar County, was severely injured during nationwide protests after being shot directly by government forces and died hours later.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Saeed Rostamabadi was targeted by direct gunfire from government forces during nationwide protests in the city of Mashhad. After being hit by a bullet, he was transferred to medical centers in critical condition, but died later that night due to severe bleeding.

This 29-year-old Kurdish citizen was married, the father of a young child, and worked as a clothing seller in the Reza Bazaar of Mashhad.

According to received information, security institutions of the Islamic Republic have opposed transferring the body of Saeed Rostamabadi to his hometown in Kangavar County, a move that has increased his family’s concerns about the handover of the body and the holding of burial ceremonies.
